1967 Volkswagen Camper in West Palm Beach, Florida
Lot #641 - The '67 Type IIs were the final split-windshield campers
with the first 12-volt system. 500 hours went into remanufacturing
every door bottom, panels and floors to near perfection using metal
with no body fillers at all. There is absolutely no rust anywhere
on its body. Every piece of rubber trim was replaced, all doors
were rebuilt, and both sliding windows and all five jalousie glass
windows were replaced. The show-quality two-tone paint scheme of
Ivory over Lotus White far exceeds its original factory-type
finish. Mechanically, it has a fresh, period-correct 1500cc
4-cylinder engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission and a
complete new wiring harness. The brand-new wood interior was
fabricated, including all rooftop and side panels from front to
back. The interior features white bucket seats up front on each
side of the walk-through area, with Saddle Tan rear seats and
accessories. The pop-top mechanism was completely rebuilt with new
tan cloth and screens. Every interior light works, including
electric outlets. It also has an original Sapphire V AM radio. The
windshield wipers lock down when its pop-open front windows are
being used. This camper rides on a set of period-correct BFGoodrich
4-ply polyester whitewall tires on its original steel wheels.
