This Car has traveled less than 80,000 miles; almost all of this was by one man. When he could no longer drive his son-in-law bought the car. Now that the son-in-law is moving he offered it to me.
It is a true two-owner car, all in one family. The miles are certainly accurate, by testimony of the son-in-law, and by evaluating the condition of the car.
The original owner did not drive the car during the week, as he had a company truck. He even used the truck for personal errands and for hunting. The Thunderbird was his Sunday and vacation car.
The son-in-law and the son were present when I bought the car. They told of the same trips they took with dad in the T-bird. Often, while towing a pop-up camper. This was a special car to their family. It is very, very original. It was garage kept. It is not rusty. Recent maintenance includes; Tune-up, Carburetor rebuild, new exhaust, new starter, new water pump, new fuel tank and new tires. It preforms very well with only the A/C compressor not working. The belt is removed so my guess is the compressor is bad.
All lights, gauges, features, locks, etc. work properly, with the exception of the clock. It rides great. I drove it 40 miles and it goes down the road nicely with very little effort. It cruises with freeway traffic thanks to the 2.50 axle Ratio. The 400M engine has plenty of power and the FMX automatic shifts smoothly.
This car is nicely equipped with power steering and brakes, power locks, cruise control, climate control, AM/FM stereo remote outside mirrors and full gauge package. Interestingly enough it does not have power windows.
The paint and interior are both completely original. The champagne paint looks good. It has never been touched up and the flaws are minimal. The Vinyl top is unblemished and supple. The seats, carpet, door panels and headliner are all in great condition. There is very, very little wear.
I enjoyed driving this car. It is big, heavy and very comfortable. It is easy to drive, doesn’t need repairs and is not very expensive. I believe you will enjoy it too.
