For Sale: 1956 Lincoln Continental Mark II in Long Beach, California

Vehicle Description

Hello,

I am offering for sale a well-maintained 1956 Continental Mark II. This car is in good condition and runs strong. There is a great deal of information available regarding the rarity and exclusivity of the 1956-1957 Mark II series and if you are looking at this car post you are likely aware of the stunning design and historical prominence of this rare and elegant automobile. When introduced in the fall of 1955 (model year 1956) the largely hand built Mark II was the most expensive American made car. It was priced at approximately $10,000 which at the time was about the same as a Rolls Royce or twice the cost of a Cadillac. Total production for the two model year production run 1956-57 was approximately 3000 with fewer than 2600 being made in 1956. Many celebrities including Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor owned this car. This automobile has the following color combination: Pastoral Blue with matching blue and white leather interior; medium blue leather biscuits with white bolsters.

The front seats are in excellent condition and there is normal wear in the rear with one small, visible seam separation. See accompanying photographs. The carpet and headliner are original and in good condition. Door panels are in very good condition. There is slight wear present on the padded armrest on the passenger?s side door. On the exterior there are some notable paint scratches (see photos) though otherwise nice looking paint coverage. The car was repainted the original color many years ago and the paint still looks nice overall and the car presents beautifully. The bumpers front and rear are original with some small scratches but in generally fine condition. All other exterior chrome and stainless trim is in good condition. The tires are beautiful white-walls and all four wheel covers are in great shape. The trunk is clean and original with minor wear visible on the carpeting. The jack is original. The engine bay is generally clean.

The carb is newly rebuilt. The engine is newer rebuilt with new electronic ignition, newly rebuilt booster/master cylinder, new exhaust system with new 12 feet of piping, new radiator, and newly rebuilt fuel pump. As for things that aren't working properly the list is short: the dashboard clock is not functioning along with the rear driver side seat window. The heater/blower, power seats, interior and exterior lights, gauges....... all work as they should.

The best part about this car is it is such FUN and feels very cool to drive it. Nearly everywhere we go we are waved to or given "thumbs up" or.... when we stop, folks love to chat about the beauty and history of this exceptional car.

For those of you interested in this Mark II, I am serious about selling it so make me an offer. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a particularly lovely example of one of the most celebrated American cars of the 1950s. Inspections are encouraged and welcome. You may call me at 310-625-5542. I will do my best to answer your questions. Thank you for looking.

John
