other British roadsters out there besides an MG. MotoeXotica
Classic Cars is proud to present this rarely seen 1959 Morgan 4/4
Series 2 Roadster. This particular example was made on August 19,
1959 in Worcestershire, England and was sold new at Windsor
Motorcycles in Ontario Canada. It was made entirely by hand, the
old fashioned way, and recently had a correct comprehensive nut &
bolt restoration to the correct standards from the Morgan Chassis
Record to bring it back to its former glory of 58 years ago. It
left the factory with the following equipment - USA certification,
heater, tonneau cover, less badge bar and passenger lamp. The car's
correct black paint and trim are in excellent show-winning
condition. The windscreen is in very good order while the car's
lights, bodywork are all in excellent order. There are even rock
guards protecting the headlights. This car rolls on Michelin
radials, size 155R400, at all four corners. Each radial surrounds a
gray, vented steel wheels with chrome center caps. The engine bay
is extremely tidy, the car's bumpers fit tightly to the body and
the rear spare tire and wheel matches the other four. Under the
vee-shaped hood is a 1.2L flathead four-cylinder engine supplied by
Ford backed by a four-speed manual transmission. Inside, the car's
burgundy leather bucket seats are in great shape, while the
contrasting black carpet also looks vibrant. The four-spoke,
banjo-style steering wheel is in excellent order. The inner door
panels topped with matching trim look great and the instrument
panel, with its warm stretch of burled wood and complete set of
gauges, looks fantastic. This vehicle is a radio delete model. The
Series II, now the 4/4 rather than the 4-4, was introduced in 1955
with only 386 built by October 1960. Although very similar in
appearance to the old 4-4 it was virtually a new car with a chassis
based on the one used in theMorgan Plus 4. The traditional
independent front suspension using sliding pillars and coil springs
was fitted with a rigid axle and semi-elliptic leaf springs at the
rear. Disc wheels were fitted as standard items. Hydraulic brakes
with nine-inch drums were fitted. Competition' form with Aquaplane
head conversion, twin S.U. carburetors and an improved gearshift
linkage. Inside there was a bench seat back and individual squabs
covered in PVC, with leather as an option and rubber floor
covering. A heater was available as an option as was a rev counter
and more surprisingly, direction indicators. In 1956,The Motor
Magazine tested a Series II and recorded a top speed of 75.3mph
acceleration from 0-60mph in 26.9 seconds and a fuel consumption
of 29.2mpg. Competition to this Morgan in 1959 included Aiken's
D2, Berkeley's B95 Twosome, Ford's Consul Mk. II Convertible,
Hillman's Minx Convertible Coupe and Moretti's 750 Spyder.
Documentation includes manuals and car covers. Also included with
digital photographs of the full restoration. This car is currently
located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on
the odometer shows 37,750 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a
clean and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!! CLICK
