The Lotus Seven is a small, simple, lightweight two-seater open-top sports car produced by Lotus Cars in England. Designed by Colin Chapman with a philosophy of performance through low weight and simplicity. The car features minimum equipment to be road legal and utilizes a simple fabric top with optional side curtains only. Production ran from 1957 to 1972 with 2500 cars being sold.
In 1964 the car was powered by a Cosworth modified Ford 1498 cc engine and a Ford gearbox. The engine was claimed to make 95 BHP and with its extremely lightweight was considered excellent performers for the time.
In 2010 this car was treated to a total restoration including both mechanical and cosmetic items. The car was completely stripped to bare metal and refinished in an attractive scheme of silver polished metal for the body with yellow fenders. This gives the look of bare aluminum without the problem of tarnishing, which just creates extra work to keep the car looking spotless. The engine was thoroughly checked over and found to be in excellent condition. A slightly milder camshaft was installed to improve street driving and the car retained its twin DCOE2 Weber carburetors. A Ford Rocket 4 speed close ratio gearbox was installed. New fenders and a nose panel were fitted and the body was re-skinned.
The interior was completely replaced while keeping the original dashboard. To complete the makeover all new foam and upholstery in red with a black convertible top with white edge piping, plus side curtains and a full tonneau cover to match the top.
