Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1927 Model T Huckster, a
fully restored truck with an oak and cherry cab that's finished as
nicely as a piece of fine furniture. Ford's innovative assembly
line made the Model T affordable for average Americans and it was a
runaway success with nearly 15 million sold. Ford made many
upgrades and refinements to the T during its 19-year production
run, and the 1927 models (the final year of production) were the
most advanced with "modern" conveniences including an electric
starter.
In addition to transportation, Model Ts were widely adapted for
agricultural and commercial use, and there were dozens of
independent coachbuilders who fabricated purpose-built bodies atop
a Model T frame and running gear. One of the most charming
variations was the Huckster, which featured a shallow pickup truck
bed with a full canopy - ideal for peddling all manner of wares,
especially produce.
The restorer of this truck was a master carpenter who took great
care in the fit, finish and hardware selection. The result is
impressive in both form and function, with iron-banded wood
construction and tasteful chrome and brass accents. Mechanically
it's also well-sorted, and it starts, runs and drives just as a
Model T should. It would be a welcome addition to any
collection.
