Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1928 Model AA Truck, fresh
from a nut-and-bolt restoration completed just last year. Ford
introduced its Model AA one-ton heavy-duty truck in 1927 at the
same time as its Model A car lineup to replace the Model T and TT
cars and trucks. By the late 1930, nearly 40 out of every 100
vehicles sold in the U.S. were some variant of the Model A. The AA
trucks got the same robust flathead four-cylinder as the Model A,
but with a beefier frame and gearbox designed for heavier
loads.
This example, a 1928 AR, has been fully restored both cosmetically
and mechanically with painstaking attention to detail. Very nice
paint, body, glass, trim and wood with excellent door fitment. The
wood bed and rails have been beautifully restored, and the
polyurethane finish was tinted green to match the cab and bed
stakes. Fenders and running boards are all steel and in great
shape. This example is unusual in that it has full running boards
and rear fenders - most of these trucks have front fenders with
running boards that stop at the rear of the cab.
It's an early build with the parking brake on the left, a red
steering wheel and desirable 30-spoke wire wheels. The cab is
forest green - Henry Ford finally acquiesced and offered vehicles
in colors other than black with the launch of the Model A. With the
green cab, black fenders and running board and wood bed, it remains
one of the most attractive classic trucks made.
The drivetrain, including engine, transmission and all chassis and
suspension components, has been fully overhauled - it has been
driven just 60 miles since restoration. The truck starts, runs and
drives just as it should.
This would be perfect for a gentleman farmer or anyone else
interested in a nicely restored early-production AA truck. For more
