Vehicle Description
The price might have been what drew your attention to this 1973
Ford Ranchero. But as you notice the big investments in the modern
paint, comfortable A/C interior, and its original performance-built
429 Cobra V8, you'll see how great a deal this muscle pickup really
is.
Ford's Ranchero wanted to be both premium and sporty, and that
design translates well into this pickup/coupe. Its wide chrome
bumpers, angular hood, flared fenders, and trim line the runs all
the way around the bed make this a looker. But what really makes it
a standout is the paint. It's recent application of a Metallic
Chestnut borrowed from a more modern Ford color palette. The result
is that this classic Ford gets to keep its blue oval lineage while
also radiating a miles-deep gloss in the sunshine. And it's not
just that they took the time to really get the paint right on the
body, but also you see it in the details, too. For example, take a
look at the two-piece polished wheels - the steelies on the inside
are painted to match the body. So your total first impression is a
Ranchero that looks like it cost you a lot more... and that's
before anyone hears the motor roar (more in that in a moment.)
From the moment you open the door, you can tell there was a nice
investment inside to keep you comfortable. The carpets, headliner,
and door panels all feel far fresher than a classic that's
approaching the half-century mark. Plus, the split bench has been
upgraded to a nice tan leather, and it comes with a fold-down
armrest for individual comfort. The Fords of this era were built
around the driver, and so you are within easy reach of upgrades
like the AM/FM/cassette stereo and R134a air conditioning. But from
the moment you slip behind the wheel, and see the full gauge
package with large speedo and tach, you instantly know this classic
is more than just a coddler.
Under the hood is Ford's famous 429 cubic-inch V8. While this
performance big block is original to the vehicle, you can tell
there has been a solid recent investment. It looks terrific with
the polished elements like the long Cobra air topper, matching
valve covers, and much more radiating from within the gloss black
engine bay. And there's extra substance with performance upgrades
like the Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock intake.
This gives the dual exhaust a throaty rumble, which is exactly what
you want in a classic American. But more than just a great V8
presence, this is all-around cruiser because the V8 has plenty of
maintenance receipts, including as recent as a few months ago.
Plus, there's an aluminum radiator to keep the big V8 running cool
even in traffic. You also have a C6 three-speed automatic
transmission (original to the car), Ranchero sedan-style ride,
thick front sway bar, power steering, and front disc brakes.
This is an all-around stunner that even comes with some hard to
find spare parts (call for the details.) So it's amazing such a
powerful and well-presented Ranchero is also so affordable. That's
why you know you need to hurry if you want to take it home. Call
