Vehicle Description
This 1953 Studebaker 2R pickup is a nicely restored example of
distinct vintage motoring. So if you like to stand out while you
turn back the clock, check out the details on this truck.
The 2R pickup represents an interesting place in truck history. It
was one for the first post-WWII designs to hit the road, and it was
also one of the most advanced of its time. The round car-like
fenders, double-walled all-steel truck bed, and the elimination of
the running boards made it both handsome and versatile. It's this
kind of distinction that makes us happy to see someone invested the
time and money to really get this one looking right. The
pastel-like green represents the '50s correctly. The gloss that
this more recent application radiates really helps to not only
highlight all the truck curves, but also overall how straight the
sheetmetal is. And the detail work is nice with the white in the
grille continuing on the bumpers and tailgate lettering. In fact,
it gives this Studebaker a hint of a two-tone. And this very
correct package even knows how to stand out with items like the red
wheels. There's even a hint of brightwork on the elements borrowed
from the car line, like the wheel covers and hood ornament.
Inside there looks to have been more nice investments in getting
this pickup to look so correct. For example, the brown vinyl bench
seat is a pickup truck staple, but the tautness of this one lets
you know it's quite new. And the way the seatbelt color matches the
accents in the door panels and dash is an especially thoughtful
touch. The experience inside this pickup is truly authentic, right
down to the large dual-spoke steering wheel with correct Studebaker
center cap.
The investment didn't stop when they got to the engine bay, and so
you'll proudly display the very authentic (possibly original?) 170
cubic-inch straight-six. You'll get plenty of people marveling at
the exterior-matching fender walls, glossy black oil bath air
cleaner, and the long green block. And more than just look good,
you can tell by the quality of the belt, wires, and hoses that this
classic was still meant to drive. And when you look at the
undercarriage photos, you see an exceptionally clean truck that
tells you no detail was overlooked. So feel free to fire up this
Studebaker, enjoy the column-shifted three-speed manual
transmission, and experience true classic motoring.
