1997 Chevrolet Camaro Brickyard 400 Pace Car - 30th Anniversary
Convertible
If you attended the 1996 Brickyard 400 race you would have seen
this Camaro rounding the track with Morgan Shepherd sitting in
back. 43 convertibles and 43 coupes were premiered at the race
where they were used as parade cars. This car is number 38 and
comes with all the options for that year. The cars official title
is a 30th anniversary convertible Brickyard 400 Z28 Pace Car and
bears the Orange and White color combo that the 1969 Pace Cars
wore. The original pace car markings are found on each door and the
rear fenders with the correct dual racing stripes. The car also
comes with a completely new set of decals. Paired with the paint
are White wheels and a White power convertible top which look
great. The car currently resides with its 2nd owner and has been
extremely well cared for since new. It is in its stock condition
just the way it came from the factory and with only 15,000 miles
this is a good investment car.
Powered by a 5.7 liter 350ci LT1 motor the car is rated at 285
horsepower and has no problem turning the tires. The motor is mated
to a 700R automatic transmission that moves through the gears with
ease. It has all the power options available for the time with
power steering and power brakes which make it a really comfortable
car to drive. Absolutely everything on the car works and it runs
very well with no issues.
The interior of the car has the original White upholstery with
houndstooth inserts which are another feature you would find on the
69. This is paired with Black carpeting, a Black dash and Black
center console. All of the original knobs, switches, AC/Heat
controls, cruise control, AM/FM/CD player, electric wiper controls
etc are nicely sitting in place and all functioning as they should.
The trunk of the car looks just as great as the rest of the car and
is done in Black carpeting.
With only a few made and with such low original miles this car is
only going to become more valuable as time goes on. In the modern
era of cars very few will be considered collectable classics in the
feature but cars like this limited edition pace car is among those
that will.
