1979 Pontiac Trans Am Bandit Edition, Custom Built Car for Owner!
OK, This car was built custom for my friend in Mississippi. He said
that he wanted to build a T/A that would Out Run, and Out Handle
much better than the original Bandit Trans Am... Boy did he build
one. He sent a SD 455 off and had it built by a well known Pontiac
Engine Builder. (Alum. Heads) He sent the Super T-10 Transmission
off and had Vascoe Straight Cut gears installed in it, He put all
Aftermarket Axles and Gears in the Rear End. He had a custom 3 inch
oval exhaust built with Spin Tech Custom Mufflers installed.
Ceramic coated headers, Blow-proof bell housing, hd clutch, etc.
etc. He had the frame removed, powder coated, Global West Full
Frame Connectors, Calvert Racing Cal-Trac Bars, Sway Bars, Poly
Bushings, new gas and brakes lines, etc. etc. He had the body
totally disassembled and painted with PPG Base Coat Clear Coat. All
rubbers, seals, glass, fuzzies, locks, handles, wiring, dash,
carpet, seats, etc. etc. was replaced. When he was finished, after
over $50K spent, on just the restoration, he said that he had
built, exactly what the Bandit Should have been! Man, you talk
about Nice and Fast! This Trans Am is both! I have the dyno sheet.
This engine puts out over 460hp to the rear wheels at only 5100
RPM's. It has 540 Lbs. of Torque at only 3300 RPM's. Talk about a
Beast! I have not seen or owned a nicer, faster, cleaner, or better
handling Trans Am! If you want one of the Nicest, and Fastest Trans
