Vehicle Description
The Mercedes-Benz SL series started out as the top of the line
sports luxury tourer that offered both performance and comfort. The
third generation SL was called the R107 chassis and is one of the
most recognizable Mercedes of all time. Produced from 1971 all the
way to 1989, the R107 lived a long and cherished life. The United
States was an extremely popular market for the personal luxury
coupe and almost ? of all SL's were sold here. Unfortunately, US
regulations mandated big bumpers, low power headlights, and
emission choked engines. While not as quick or pretty as their
European cousins, the US market SL's still represented the cream of
the personal luxury car crop.
This great little roadster offered here was sold new out of
Yorkville NY to Richard Davis back in 1981. The car remained in his
custody till 2000 and was sold to the 2nd owner in Florida and
remained in their possession till we recently acquired the vehicle.
Vehicle was optioned new with the upgraded Astral Silver Metallic
paint and the blue leather interior. Vehicle remains in it stock
form outside of the upgraded stereo deck that was replaced a few
years ago. Standard features include cruise control, auto temp,
4spd automatic, alloy wheels, rear defrost, hard top and soft top
and much more.
This vehicle has enjoyed a open checkbook its entire life and the
car showcases the care and love over the past 27 years of its life.
Vehicle comes with all factory owners' manuals, 3 keys, original
hard top, a huge file full of yearly maintenance and service
records, clean CarFax and the original window sticker ($40,632.00).
This car did have the timing chain, valve cover gaskets, crankshaft
main bearing seal, both engine mounts and power steering pump all
replaced.
These cars are the next up and coming vintage Mercedes
convertibles...they are good looking, enjoyable to drive and still
have the iconic looks. We have seen double digit price increases
over the past few years on these and see no end in sight!
