Gateway Classic Cars is proud to present this 1947 Plymouth Special
De luxe. The Plymouth De Luxe was produced from 1946 to 1950, with
the top trim line being the Special De Luxe model. The first post
war Plymouth Deluxe rolled off the assembly line on October 22,
1945, at the dealership people arrived in droves to get their name
on the list for a brand new car. Plymouth literature claimed there
were 50 updates on their post-war model that improved upon the
pre-war model. For the 1946-48 model years the 3.6L Inline Six was
boosted to 95hp. This engine was produced from the 1920's to the
1970's, proving that if it isn't broke you shouldn't fix it this
long lived engine became a Legendary motor. Plymouth's tag line
during this post-war era was "Outside and in, it's a completely new
Plymouth. Compare it feature for feature. Sit in it. Ride in it.
Drive it. Then you'll surely agree." This car cruises down the road
with the best of them, and represents an era for Chrysler where
they put function before style. Reliability and function were on
the forefront of design, Chrysler President wanted a consumer to be
able to sit bolt-upright wearing a hat comfortably while he drove
down the road. The Plymouth is a perfect example of 1940's
practicality its comfortable, spacious, smooth idling engine, built
to withstand the wear and tear of use. This 1947 Plymouth Deluxe
