Vehicle Description
There's definitely an elusive combination that makes some cars
great, and leaves other cars wanting. This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro
convertible nails it, ranging from amazing paintwork, to a
performance-built stroker motor attached to a six-speed. It's a
fresh build of an iconic Camaro with all the right moves to be a
true exotic.
As this was the final year for the first-generation Camaro, Chevy
decided to give it some grown-up sexy curves with a new more
angular front end, style lines that ran the entire side of the car,
and a shapely rear. Highlighting the bodywork on this fully
restored beauty is one of the most awesome paintjobs to come
through our showroom. It's a full respray that starts with the
factory-correct Daytona Yellow - a great sporty name. On top of
that is a layer of sinister black that not only adds extra emphasis
to the classic Coke-bottle styling, but it also coordinates nicely
with the black convertible top. And just to make sure the
separation line of this two-tone is clear, there's a bold lime
green pinstripe. In fact, the paint looks so great, that the
bumpers were included in this custom work, too. But lovers of
brightwork won't be disappointed. After all, there was plenty
invested to highlight the trim, ribbed faux side vents, and those
huge Budnik alloys with an aggressive 17/18-inch stagger
front/rear. And speaking of intimidation, this one has all the
right iconic Camaro elements in place, including the cowl induction
hood, full-width D80 spoiler, and the hidden headlights of the RS
package - now with a bold billet grille leading the way.
Beneath the black folding top is an updated black interior, so you
get the great color-coordination with the exterior no matter if the
roof is on or off. And as you look over all the elements, you soon
realize that this is a very custom build. It starts with the front
seats that were borrowed from a later-model Camaro. So you get the
correct lineage, but vastly superior bolstering. In between the
modern buckets is a custom-built center console that houses the
Hurst shifter with a topper that lets you know this is a mean
machine. Just ahead of that is an updated quad gauge package with
AutoMeter Phantom readouts, and above that is an upgraded AM/FM/CD
stereo. As you grab the classic Chevy three-spoke sports steering
wheel (power steering), you'll see the large speedo and tach that
match the auxiliary gages - all of this tells your senses to get
ready for something special even before you twist the key.
The heart of this beast is a fuel-injected 383 cubic-inch stroker
motor. You'll love popping the hood at all the car shows and
watching the crowds marvel at the custom. It'struly built for
presentation with all those shining components, hidden wiring, and
even the block is painted to match the rest of the engine bay's
yellow. But just because the motor can win awards on its own,
doesn't mean speed was left out of this custom build. The V8 was
fortified and enhanced with components like Keith Black pistons
(10:1 compression), Dart Pro aluminum heads, Harland Sharp roller
rockers, Lunati Voodoo camshaft, Eagle forged crankshaft, MSD
ignition, PRC big block aluminum radiator w/dual electric fan,
Weiand aluminum intake, and topped with a Holley 750 CFM
double-pumper four-barrel carburetor. This one makes a fierce grow
from the H-pipe dual exhaust at startup to announce its power
superiority. And best of all, you're in complete control of this
monster V8 and its thunderous soundtrack thanks to the Richmond
six-speed manual transmission. Making sure this power gets to the
streets is a Denny's driveshaft that connects to a stout 12-bolt
rear end running 3.73 gears for good all-around performance. And
more than just pure power, this Camaro has some nice moves thanks
to an upgraded independent front suspension and Detroit Speed
subframe connectors in the rear. Add in the control of front disc
brakes and modern Nitto NT 555R drag radials in the rear, and
you've got a serious street machine.
With only about 1,600 miles on this build, it's an all-around
stunner that you'll love to cruise and take to the shows. So if
