For Sale: 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air in Orlando, Florida

Vehicle Description

For sale by owner, is my 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible. It is a 283 Power Pack, Powerglide original car. I have owned this car for 4 years now and during that time I have refreshed what was a frame off restoration about 25 years ago.

From the body standpoint, I had very small imperfections and gap issues corrected plus had paint work done above the beltline of the car. The paint work was professionally done and is indistinguishable from the rest of the car. The chrome is excellent. The canvas convertible top is newer and has no damages anywhere but I did add a new weather stripping kit around the windows. The onyx black paint is the original color and matches the data tag (code 793).

The interior is code 683, red and silver, also matching the data tag. I did replace the seat covers but everything else is acceptable to me. There are small scratches where the vent windows open on the metal door frame that could be touched up if desired. The carpeting is black and it has black carpeted ‘Bel Air’ floor mats. The radio and clock do not work. All glass is fine.

The engine has been completely rebuilt about 3000 miles ago. It was bored .0040 over with new rings and pistons and the crank was turned down .0010 with new rod, main and cam bearings. The heads have hardened seats with new valves, valve springs, guides and seals. All new gaskets and seals were used during the rebuild. New timing chain and gears, and an oil pump as well.

Other parts I replaced were, re-manufactured Carter WCFB carb, fuel pump, water pump, coil, starter, various tune up parts and I am sure I am forgetting something. The car has its original power steering, a Powerglide transmission and a newer exhaust system, with quiet straight through mufflers. It has a slight rumble but not offensive.

Under the car, the brakes were totally done. The car has its original drum brakes system. All new front end bushings were done recently along with the rear bushings for the leaf springs. It rides nicely and gives me comfort that these things have been gone through. The car still has the red oxide floors underneath and a black painted frame. I do not see any rust other than surface rust in a few places.

I am an AACA member and try to abide by their standards for original cars. Thus this car is primarily original. I do drive this car to shows so some detailing may be necessary. I do try to keep it clean.

The car has an interesting history from the late eighties that I can share with you. The car is sold as is. The buyer is responsible for shipping. The car and clear Florida title will remain with me until I have full payment in my bank. Inspections are welcome and encouraged. Serious inquiries only, please. Please call me at 732-895-1227 if you have any questions between 9AM and 9PM eastern time. Leave a message if I don’t answer. My name is Steve and the car is garaged safely here in Orlando.
