1949 Mercury Woody Wagon. First year for the new body style.
This is a true barn find. This was in a Ford dealer show room for years then moved to a warehouse for storage. Has been parked for over 20 years. Before it was parked in the showroom, it was the dealer owner’s family car. Last registered in 1967. Engine does run , but the car is not driving.
Looks like it has one repaint in the original color. (paint is in good condition, but not show quality) Body is in excellent condition. I have seen no rust on this car. Glass is in great condition. Chrome is pitted.
Original drive train. Flat head V8 with three speed transmission. Still using the original 6 volt positive ground system.
Original wood. Original owner’s manual still in glove box. 89,638 original miles on the speedo. Interior dash, side panels and headliner in very good condition. Floor mat needs to be replaced and seat upholstery is starting to split.
See photo of sign listing owners of the Woody that was used when on display on the showroom floor.
This would be a great car for the person looking for am unmolested woody to restore or just fix up and drive.
Overall, the woody is in great shape.
