I don’t think there’s a more beautiful street rod than a 1934 Ford 3-Window coupe. The perfect proportions, dramatic curves, and magnificent front grille are truly classic. Now combine those good looks with a supercharged big block and you’ve got a real attention getter.
This car was built by Healey Custom Works and is based on a modified Street Beasts platform. The fiberglass body is straight and solid, and has a menacing look with its shiny black paint. It has a hood and engine side covers as well, all painted to match. There are also full bumpers front and rear. The 15” Weld aluminum wheels wear Hoosier Pro Street Radial tires (25 x 7.5” in front and monster 29 x 19.5” in back).
The engine is a supercharged 454 cubic inch Gen V big block built by Jon Barrett Hot Rod Engines. As you might expect, it has gobs of power and a very healthy sound. Still, it starts easily and performs well on the street, even with the 6-71 blower and dual Holley carburetors. It is backed by a built TH400 transmission and a hefty Ford 9” narrowed rear end.
Brakes are 4-wheel power discs with an auxiliary vacuum pump for consistent operation under all conditions. The front end is a Mustang II style setup with KYB gas shocks, while the rear uses a fully adjustable 4-link setup with adjustable coilovers. The exhaust uses dual Flowmaster mufflers that give a fantastic sound.
The leather interior is clean and orderly. The seats are quite comfortable and include shoulder belts. There is a surprising amount of legroom, and when coupled with the tilt steering column you have more space than your typical street rod. There is a full complement of Auto Meter gauges, all of which work properly. There is also a working horn, parking brake, heater, wiper mechanism, and Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo.
This car is a tremendous amount of fun to drive and is a hit wherever it goes. It is well sorted and ready for the road. Why settle for an average small-block street rod when you can have a monster like this one?
