Vehicle Description
History
The Chevrolet Corvette (C2), also known as the Chevrolet Corvette
Stingray, is the second generation of the Chevrolet Corvette sports
car, produced by the Chevrolet division of General Motors for the
1963 to 1967 model years.
The 1967 Corvette Stingray was the last Corvette of the second
generation, and five years of refinements made it the best of the
line. Changes were again modest with 5 smaller front fender vents
replaced the three larger ones, and flat-finish rockers sans
ribbing.
The ultimate Corvette engine for 1967 was 427 cubic inch and was
coded L88 and was as close to a pure racing engine as Chevy had
ever offered in regular production. Although the factory advertised
L88 rating was 430 bhp at 4600 rpm, the true rating was said to be
about 560 bhp at 6400 rpm. The very high compression ratio required
103-octane racing fuel, which was available only at select service
stations. Clearly this was not an engine for the casual motorist.
The 1967 Corvette Resto-Mod we have here at Skyway Classics, is
even wilder!
If you have never heard of a "Resto-Mod", it is when "you take an
old car and modernize it with an updated engine, suspension,
brakes, tires and] electronics. Various reasons for performing
resto-modifications on vintage cars may include the owner's desire
to have either modern conveniences, improvements in vehicle safety
or reliability, and/or improvements in street or track-driving
performance.
Resto-modifications for modern convenience and safety may include
adding features such as air conditioning, power windows, power
steering, power brakes, seatbelts, or radio/stereo systems that may
have not come installed on a vehicle at the time it was originally
produced.
Features & Options
And that is exactly what our 1967 Corvette Resto-Mod is all about.
This Corvette has undergone an all-inclusive change-over into the
beast it is today. It has had a total frame-off Rotisserie
Restoration starting with a no Hit Body over a Custom Street Shop
Chassis. The Corvette is painted with a stunning Custom DuPont
Black Onyx and Clear Paint job.
The body also has a Power Hood and Antenna, new Air Conditioning
and Heat, and new Stainless Trim and Bumpers. The interior features
a $20,000 in Sound System with Voice Activation, Custom Dash with
Hideaway Navigation and Bluetooth, a new Al Knoch Leather Interior
with Headrests, power windows, a Flaming River Tilt Steering
Column, and a Voice Activation Dashboard all of which was pro
built.
The chassis is constructed with a polished C-6 Suspension Front and
Rear, Adjustable Shocks Front and Rear, Front & Rear Sway Bar, 6
Piston Brakes All Around with Gun Drilled Rotors with its rolling
stock of super fat performance tires on Corvette Grand Sport
Wheels.
The centerpiece of this Corvette is it's powerplant, a LS3 525 hp
V8 Vette Engine Tuned to over 600hp! It is shifted by a TKO 600
5-Speed Tremec Transmission w/6 to 1 Overdrive, with all that power
going to a Viper Center Section & Differential with 3.32 Gear
Ratio.
The engine gets its air from a Custom SW Custom Ram Intake and
pumps the exhaust gasses out of a set of Custom Factory Looking
Side Exhausts.
