BODYWORK/TRIM

The beneficiary of a detailed restoration that took six figures and 2.5 years to complete, this Camaro wears a vibrant coat of red 2-stage that's as smooth as it is glossy. Under that pigment, solid body panels align well, presenting the kind of fit and finish that's common on high level builds. That alignment serves as an excellent canvas for a painted Super Sport nose stripe. And that stripe parallels quality Haartz cloth that completes an impressive, head-turning profile.

As any good stylist will tell you, clothing is a great tool for personal expression, but it's often the finishing touches that really show your passion. Translation: the devil is in the details, and this Camaro certainly doesn't disappoint. At the front of that car, a tasteful Rally Sport grille hangs a polished "SS" emblem above a broad bumper, Rally Sport parking lamps and a requisite D80 chin spoiler. Behind that grille, a shaved header leads the eye through a handsome Super Sport Hood, which fronts polished wipers that clear tinted and stainless-trimmed glass. Beneath that glass, traditional door handles and factory mirrors reflect ornate fender emblems, factory marker lamps and polished "502" scripts. And at the back of the car, a second broad bumper and second D80 spoiler cage a Gloss Black valance that's centered on a billet, "SS" branded fuel cap and billet, LED tail lamps.

ENGINE

Looks aren't the only thing that inspires great memories. Toss this Chevy's hood and you'll find a brutal GM Performance Parts ZZ502 big block that's been balanced, blueprinted and bored to a whopping 512 cubic inches! A rich mixture of air and fuel is supplied by a big Quick Fuel 4-barrel, which floats between Russell fluid lines, a Lokar throttle linkage and a polished air cleaner. That carb rides a polished Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, which is bolted to the Chevy Orange block via hot aluminum heads. Those heads plant beefy roller rockers between polished breathers, polished valve covers and Stainless Works long-tube headers. At the back of those pipes, an aftermarket distributor sequences spark through loomed Taylor plug wires. In front of those wires, a billet serpentine drive spins a polished Edelbrock water pump between a polished alternator, a polished AC compressor and Concept One power steering. And that pump feeds a polished radiator that's parked between a polished expansion tank and a giant electric puller fan. Aesthetically, the engine compartment continues this Chevy's theme of glossy black and red 2-stage. And, everywhere it strays, the eye is met with quality ancillary components like trick dipsticks, billet brace bars and billet hood hinges.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

When the engine jumps to life, it spins torque through a chrome-trimmed Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed that, thanks to the good folks at TCI Automotive, makes excellent use of a Gear Vendors overdrive. That no compromises powertrain pushes a fully independent suspension that's finished with Global West tubular control arms and quality Speedtech spindles. Naturally, the aforementioned Concept One power steering includes a tidy Concept One gearbox. Stops come courtesy of Hydratech hydraulics, which route fluid from a Wilwood master cylinder to a quartet of Wilwood calipers. Those clamps, two inboard 4-piston units and two traditional 6-piston units, squeeze a combination of vented, drilled and slotted rotors. There's a large-diameter exhaust system that thunders through Borla ProXS mufflers. And everything rolls on color-keyed Rushforth Rated-X wheels, which twist 245/40ZR18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of 275/40ZR18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs. Aesthetically, this Chevy's Satin Black floors look restoration fresh in virtually every sense. And quality ancillaries, like a stainless fuel tank, Speedtech subframe connectors, braided fuel lines and a finned transmission pan, are standard fare.

INTERIOR

Open the doors and you'll find a custom leather cockpit that takes plenty of aesthetic cues from trophy-winning show cars. Top dead center, a Gloss Black dash frames conservative Classic Instruments telemetry behind billet accessory knobs and controls for the car's modern air conditioning. Plucked from something much more modern, this Chevy's plush bucket seats mix stylish suede accents with attractive red stitching. Between those thrones, a custom, full-length console plants a short shifter behind Kenwood touchscreen audio. Beneath that console, clean carpet floats piped and color-keyed floor mats under metal foot pedals and integrated kick speakers. In front of the driver, a tilting column spins a tough, Chevrolet-branded steering wheel. And behind the passengers, a leather-lined trunk centers a big Kenwood eXcelon sub between dual Kenwood eXcelon amps.
