1953 Chevrolet Panel Wagon This attractive
1953 Chevrolet Panel Wagon has received a professional body-off
restoration to a high standard with all-new fasteners. Originally
purchased new by a plumber in Price, Utah from the local dealer for
only $553.00, it remained in his custody as a daily driver until
1970. It was originally purchased in 1953 by a plumber in Price,
Utah. It was stored in a warehouse for several years when it
was turned over to the original owner’s nephew, who had
commissioned the restoration with a powder coated frame. A Mustang
II front-end with disc brakes were added for better ride quality
and stopping power at the same time.
It retains the original 6-cylinder engine, which was also
professionally rebuilt and enhanced with an Offenheimer dual
carburetor intake manifold and a dual exhaust manifold. The
exhaust is enhanced with glass packs that provide a nice
guttural sound on the throttle. The truck features an original NOS
instrument panel, while the electrical system was converted to
12-volts for added convenience and to allow fitment of a wonderful
stereo system.
A multiple award winner at numerous events, this stunner received
the Best in Show Award at the 2002 Chevy Truck Nationals. It was
also the subject of a laudatory article in a magazine in 2015,
where it was named the “Best Plumbing Truck in America.” With easy
to remove vinyl lettering, this is a truck that can make
cross-country trips and star in any show with equal aplomb. A real
attractive vehicle that will provide years of happy motoring.
