Vehicle Description
1,475 of these racy Shelby Dakota pickups were built for just one
year, and this is the first one ever built, serial #1. Assembled at
Shelby Industries in Whittier, CA, these trucks would be the first
Dakotas to receive a V8 engine. They would also be the first V8
rear wheel drive vehicles built by Shelby since the 1960s. Backing
the V8 in this pickup is a 4-speed manual transmission. This truck
was sold to a retail customer originally and then later purchased
back by Carroll Shelby to be used as a personal vehicle and a shop
truck for Shelby American for several years. This truck was driven
and used by Carroll himself and his employees for years, and comes
with all of the documentation to prove it, including a copy of a
speeding ticket in Arizona while being driven by Carroll Shelby's
friend and CEO Donald Rager. After many years the truck was retired
from driving and put into the Shelby Museum Collection and was on
display for many years up until 2016, when it was purchased by a
private collector. The only thing done to the truck since leaving
the museum was a tuneup and a quick detail. **TITLE IN TRANSIT**
