Few profiles are as compelling as that of a period salt flat racer
fashioned from war surplus aluminium. Built on the bones of a stock
1929 Ford Model A, The Bomb features a body from a spare aircraft
wing tank, granting the entire package an authenticity that cannot
be replicated at any price. The windscreen was adapted from an old
airplane canopy and the seats are from a period bomber. Despite
installing only period correct performance modifications, the racer
was clocked at 63 mph, an important feat for a street legal and
road registered racecar! A multiple award recipient at various
events and driven by Mario Andretti, this is a crowd pleaser that
is sure to garner intense interest as it crosses the block.
Estimate: $17,000-19,000
"I am getting older and I have a bunch of cars. I don't want
to sell any of them, but I don't want my wife and kids to have to
worry about them. This is just like tearing my heart
out."
