1971 Mustang Mach 1 429 Ram Air Super Cobra Jet, Factory Drag Pack Optioned Car, Original Survivor. This amazing survivor has only had a good cleaning, including buffing out the paint, and freshening up the engine compartment. This car has had one repaint in the early/mid 80's and I had the hood stripped and painted back to original during my clean up of the car. The paint job isn't perfect after all these years, but it's a good 5 footer now that's it's buffed out. During my refresh of this car I didn't alter any original parts, only cleaned them. The exception was that I added a Pertronics Flame thrower 3 Electoronic Iginition to make it easier to start. I will provide the original dual points ignition with the sale of the car. This is a mostly rust free car with some surface rust underneath, nothing major, mostly on leaf springs. Floor pans, frame rail, and body panels all look good. The car is said to be 38K original miles and the way it drives and handles is at least some evidence that this unmolested beast is in fact a low mileage example. The original 429 Super Cobra Jet engine runs strong and the 4 speed transmission shifts through the gears effortlessly, thanks to the factory Hurst shift kit. This car has no major mechanical issues, it starts up, runs and stops with no hassle and it really just tracks down the road nicely.
This car was ordered with the Factory Drag Pack option, which meant the engine was upgraded from a 429 Cobra Jet to a 429 Super Cobra Jet. The production numbers on 1971 Mach 1's with this option is really low. Only 531 Mach 1 Mustangs optioned with the Drag Pack were produced in 1971 making this a rare and highly collectible car. This Mach 1 comes with it's original numbers matching 429 Super Cobra Jet, Original Holly 780cfm 4bbl carb w/. YA tag still in place. 4 speed close ratio transmission all hooked up to the 4.11 Detroit Locker Rear Axle as ordered.
All gauges and accessories work, all lights work, original glass and bright works is in great shape. other options include Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes.
