To win these awards the car is kept in original condition. It's numbers matching engine and transmission have 32,300 original miles. The car’s unique charcoal silver/metallic silver two tone paint scheme and special striping package separated this model from the others produced that year and is the first factory optioned two-toned Corvette offered since 1961.
1978 was the 25th anniversary for Corvette and to commemorate its 25 years a completely redesigned body was introduced bringing back the fastback styling. The wrap-around rear window provided enhanced rearward visibility and ease of access to a large 24 cf compartment behind the bucket seats with a retractable cover. A special “Silver Anniversary Edition” was produced and was the very first special edition produced by General Motors. This Special Edition corvette is one of only 2,226 with oyster colored interior.
The Special Anniversary car also received special “Silver Anniversary” badges, aluminum wheels and duel sport outside mirrors. Other features on the car include a genuine glovebox, power windows, power door locks, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, cruise control, rear window defogger, tilt/telescopic steering wheel, auto dimming dome light, intermittent windshield wipers and a larger 24 gallon fuel tank featuring an internal molded plastic liner cased inside a steel shell.
The car was repainted and carpet replaced about 12 years ago and is in excellent condition with a straight, no accident body. Aside from the paint and carpet being replaced, the car is factory stock. Any parts replaced over the years were factory correct. This car needs nothing, it is ready for you to drive and enjoy.
