Vehicle Description
1917 Oldsmobile Roadster. Model 45-A V-8 246 Cubic in. 58
Horsepower Engine layout Longitudinal Rear-wheel drive Steering
Worm and 1/z half nut Tires 33t\' by 4\' Gear Box 3 speed manual
Top gear Ratio 1 to 1 Final drive ratio 4.9\' \r\n\r\nI purchased
the car Aug. of 2O16. I worked on the car for one year to get the
car where it is today. When I got the car it was in good condition
with no rust except on the inside of the rear fender where they fit
to the aprons. \r\n\r\nThe running gear and brakes were already
redone and they looked like they were done several years ago. I did
all the work myself, expect the pin stripping was done by Eight
Ball in Clovis New Mexico. \r\n\r\nI live by the gravesite of Billy
the Kid, 8 miles from town. I only drove the car twice; the second
time I drove the car into town the timing gear and oil pump gear
went out. There are no manuals for the eight or four cylinder
engines. I had the gears made it cost l,8OO.OO, I also had them
treated to keep them oily for another 200.00 \r\n\r\nThe engine has
a drilled crank shaft with two oil lines going to the end of the
journals. lt also has inserts, a roller cam with a four barrel
un-drafted carburetor and external oil pump. The timing gears and
oil pump gears have a tube for stray oil on the gears. The engine
was manufactured by Northway. Northway made engines for General
Motors.
