For Sale at Auction: 1967 Chevrolet Corvette in Scottsdale, Arizona

Vehicle Description

Of all the great Corvettes produced since America\'s Sports Car debuted in 1953, some of the most highly collectible models are without doubt those built for 1967, the last second-generation model year. Powered by the wicked solid-lifter RPO L71 427 V-8 engine packing 435 factory-rated horsepower and mated to a Muncie M21 close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission, this numbers matching example retains the original drivetrain and factory-original body/trim tag. Finished in Rally Red with a black hood Stinger, a 1967-only option, and a black soft top over a red interior, it has travelled just 31,098 actual miles at the time of cataloguing. Following its professional restoration performed during 2007 by the Nabers Brothers of Houston, Texas, this stunning Corvette earned Bloomington Gold honors with 99.0 points that June and NCRS Regional Top Flight with 97.0 points at the October 2008 Lone Star Regional meeting.\r\n \r\nIncredibly well documented with the window sticker, tank sticker Corvette Order Copy, and NCRS Shipping Data Report, the Corvette was built on May 4, 1967 and delivered new to Van Chevrolet in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. In addition to its Rally Red paint, red vinyl upholstery, triple-carb L71 \'Turbo-Jet\' 427 V-8 and M21 close-ratio 4-speed, this Corvette was very well equipped with factory options including the RPO G81 Positraction rear axle with 3.701 gears, K66 Transistor Ignition, N11 Off-Road Exhaust, and F41 Special Suspension. Other welcome options included J50 Power Brakes, A01 Tinted Glass, N40 Power Steering, U69 Pushbutton AM/FM Radio, and 7.75 x 15 redline tires. \r\n \r\nProvenance is excellent and known from new, with the Corvette dealer-traded in August 1967 from Van Chevrolet to Joe Johnson Chevrolet of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, where it was sold that same month to its first owner, local resident Frank Shebester. In June 1968, the Corvette was resold by Joe Johnson Chevrolet to second owner Ted Parkey at 10,000 original miles. He sold the car in May 1973 at 25,000 original miles to Jackie Johnson Chambers of Ada, Oklahoma, who moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan in March 1976 and retained the Corvette until 2007, with receipts on file with the car showing 30,998 original miles. Fourth owner Ray Norvell of Las Vegas acquired the Corvette in 2007 and immediately commissioned the Naber Brothers to perform the frame-off restoration. In 2008, Jack Corwin of Burbank, California became the Corvette\'s fifth owner and retained it until 2012, when the Consignor, also from California, purchased it. \r\n \r\nAs offered, the Corvette includes such correct-type components as the spare wheel and tire, jack, tools, seat belts, windshield-washer system, shifter, and headlights, plus the factory instruction tag for the black convertible top. In addition to the window sticker, tank sticker, and NCRS Shipping Data Report, the Corvette\'s provenance is extensively researched with complete known ownership history from 1967 to the present, registration documents from Oklahoma, Michigan, and California, Bloomington Gold and NCRS Top Flight certificates, and NCRS judging sheets, all within a 3-ring binder. One of the most-documented 1967 Corvettes in the United States today, this very rare 1 of as few as 5 known red/red cars example looks, runs, and drives great. As offered, it marks an outstanding opportunity to acquire one of the very best.
