Vehicle Description
It's getting tougher and tougher to stand out at your local car
show or cruise in. However, if you are looking for a ride that you
are all but guaranteed to never see another one like it, then take
a look at this very well done custom 1971 Fiat 500.
If you are familiar with Fiats, you will immediately see that this
isn't your run of the mill 500. This gorgeous car was the
beneficiary of a $55,000 restoration that was finished in about
2010. The restoration included a brand new 4-cylinder Subaru EA81
from Zcars Performance Engineering, a 5-speed conversion kit, black
diamond clutch, coil-over shock kit with upper and lower control
arms, front disc brake conversion, leather interior, 12" cast
aluminum silver ray wheels, and a 70-hour paint job.
So trust us when we say, there aren't too many Fiats out there like
this!
The body is ridiculously straight and was shot with only the
highest quality PPG products to the tune of a 70-hour $6,000 paint
job. The look is incredible and thanks to the updated suspension
and stance of the car, this look will stand the test of time.
Inside you'll find a fully custom leather interior with small
touches on the seat that pays tribute to the Italian manufacture.
No corners were cut on the inside, all the gauges work as they
should, as do the lights, blinkers, horn, radio etc.. Long story
short, it's a great place to log miles from.
The engine and transmission have approximately 8,000 miles on them
since the restoration in 2010. The Subaru powerplant fires up easy
and because the car is so light, really will surprise you for how
quick it is. If you aren't familiar with the Subaru E81, the engine
was originally designed & developed as an Aircraft Engine and then
later modified for Automotive use when Subaru pulled out of the
aviation business. The EA81 compact design as well as the low
weight/power ratio makes it a highly recommended power plant for a
car like this and it is practically bulletproof. Unlike other
imports, the engine is watercooled, so from the underside you can
see the custom hoses running on the bottom of the car from the
radiator to the engine. Thanks to the coil-over suspension, updated
engine, 5-speed transmission and Falken tires, this car will easily
do 100mph if you wanted. And you won't believe the looks you'll get
when you are passing people on the highway in this car.
