All early Ford V-8s are treasured by their owners and admired for their beauty. Some models, however, have engendered a wide and perennial following. The favorites among 1940s Fords are surely the 1940 coupes and convertibles. The 1940 Ford Coupe comes out of a very well respected Southern California collection, and was restored to a very high standard. It is built on a Fat Man chassis and is powered by a small block chevy V8. It features power disc brakes, power steering, ice-cold air conditioning, wool carpeting and more. Other special touches include conversion to 12-volt electrics, allowing the use of an electric radiator fan for reliable operation in all climates and the discreet installation of a modern stereo system under the dashboard.
The body is straight with excellent door alignment and operation. Painted Maroon, the exterior sheet metal exhibits a deep shine. The brightwork is all in excellent condition.
The interior is upholstered in Tan The dash plastic is in excellent condition, and the instruments were all brand new at the time the car was restored, just over 8,000 careful miles ago. Although this car has been superbly outfitted for touring, it retains the right street rod appearance throughout.
