Vehicle Description
The GPV is not a tank or an urban assault vehicle but a new type of
Armored Personnel Carrier. Maintenance is made easy on the vehicle,
as it was built using commercial truck components, giving it the
ability to be serviced in any truck or bus garage. The high hard
steel provides advanced ballistic and blast protection, and it
offers advanced protection and safety to all of its occupants from
armed threats, fir, explosives, extreme weather condition and
violent confrontations. The NBC over pressure system also allows
for occupant protection in a WMD situation, chemical spill or
hazardous materials scenario not found in any other vehicle
specifically designed for first responder use. The GPV carries over
150 gallons of fuel, allowing it to operate for long periods of
time in the event of a massive power outage or major emergency and
no fuel may be obtained. All-wheel steering and advanced suspension
enable it to maneuver in narrow streets and alleys allowing it to
go places even a Humvee can't go. It is powered by a C9 Caterpillar
inline-6 diesel engine backed by a ZF 7-speed
electronically-controlled automatic transmission. It has a maximum
road speed of 65 mph and a maximum water speed of 3.5 mph. Stopping
power for the GPV is provided by driveline-integrated,
spring-activated air/hydraulic brakes with ABS at each wheel and a
hydraulically released parking brake. It is equipped with multiple
thermal and optical cameras, a 30,000-pound hydraulic winch that
will operate at 60,000 pounds with the Snatchblock, heating system,
air conditioning, a diesel auxiliary power unit, and two-channel,
multi-pressure central tire inflation. The GPV has a turning radius
of just over 26 feet, a curb weight of 37,700 pounds, and a gross
vehicle weight of 47,999 pounds.
