The Oldsmobile 88 was produced from 1949-1999 and was the
division's top selling line from 1950-1974. The new model shared
the same B-body platform as the inline-6 powered model 76, but was
paired with the new 303 cid "Rocket V8" engine producing 135 hp.
The combination of a fairly light body and a powerful engine made
it arguably the first "muscle car". In fact, the Rocket 88 would go
on to dominate NASCAR racing, winning 6 of 9 races in the 1949
season. 1954 saw significant styling changes to the line and
featured longer and lower body shells and wrap-around windows. The
Rocket V8 was increased to 324 cid and could be mated to manual or
"Hydra-Matic" automatic transmissions. This beautiful 1954 Olds is
powered by a rebuilt 454 Chevrolet V8 powerplant and paired with a
Turbo 400 3-speed automatic transmission. The owner states 18,000
miles since the rebuild that included a mild cam and 3:73 gear
ratio. Additional features include power steering, power brakes,
tilt steering wheel and custom alloy wheels. The exterior lines
have been enhanced by frenched headlights and directional lights.
Fire up this powerful machine and rise to the occasion with
adjustable AIR SUSPENSION. The medium blue cloth interior has been
nicely done and the dash features a tasteful combination of OEM and
modern gauges. This classic is ready to cruise and show and located
