Vehicle Description
This Oldsmobile 88 convertible represents the top-of-the-line
offering from Lansing in 1958, as it incorporates open-air style
with such standard luxuries as a Hydramatic automatic transmission,
power steering, power brakes, a dual exhaust, an electric clock and
leather lounge seats. An extensive frame-off restoration was
completed in December 2017. Powered by a 371ci V8 engine with the
J-2 triple 2-barrel carburetor option and the coveted 4-speed
Jet-Away Hydramatic transmission, which were both recently rebuilt,
this 88 is equipped with coil spring independent front suspension,
live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs and 4-wheel
hydraulic drum brakes. It was repainted for the first time during
the restoration in its attractive factory original shade of Surf
Green. On the inside are green and white supple leather bench
seats, along with an entirely new leather interior designed to
complement the exterior. The interior has a near-factory finish and
style. New glass and rubber, new or rebuilt engine components, and
power steering components have been installed. All brightwork is of
very good quality and has been replated, and the stainless steel
polished and straightened. The new, white vinyl convertible top is
covered when lowered by a light green vinyl boot cover. Additional
accessories include fender skirts, a new power hydraulic top and
cylinders, a Transportable radio and Fiesta spinner wheel covers.
The engine compartment, trunk and undercarriage have been detailed
and brought back to a near-showroom condition throughout.
