Vehicle Description
History
The Dodge Challenger is the name of three different generations of
automobiles (two of those being pony cars) produced by Dodge. From
model years 1970 to 1974, the first generation Dodge Challenger
pony car was built using the Chrysler E platform, sharing major
components with the Plymouth Barracuda. The second generation, from
1978 to 1983, was a badge engineered Mitsubishi Galant Lambda
compact car. The third and current generation is a pony car
introduced in early 2008 as a rival to the evolved fifth generation
Ford Mustang and the fifth generation Chevrolet Camaro.
The 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8 had a base price of $41,955. The
drivetrain consisted of a 426 ci 6.4-liter V8, RWD, with an
automatic transmission. The horsepower rating was 425 hp @ 6,200
rpm, 420 lb-ft @ 4,800 rpm with a curb weight of 4,144 lb.
That Powertrain was great, but the 2010 Dodge Challenger we have at
Skyway Classics has a whole lot more going for it.
Features & Options
This one takes it one step farther, as it was sent to the Petty
Garage to have it modified into a real street challenger. Petty
Garage added a Kenny Bell Mammoth Super Charger, a Viking
Transmission, a 3:55 rear end, a tall rear spoiler, as well as
additional tuning with a programmer/tuner.
Petty Garages more or less build a production based, high
performance street vehicle that can be a daily driver not an all
out race car, but still have most of the performance capabilities
of a race car.
This beautiful black Challenger with gray leather interior has all
the stock SRT features like
standard LED-lit door pull handles and cupholder, Interactive Decel
Fuel Shut-Off, which shuts off fuel during deceleration for
improved fuel economy, High performance Brembo Brakes, 20-inch
forged alloy wheels, electronic vehicle information centre,
severe-duty engine cooling, automatic xenon headlamps, garage door
opener, auto-dimming rearview mirror, security alarm, premium
leather-faced heated seats, UConnect hands-free connectivity,
performance-tuned steering, wheel-mounted audio controls,
high-performance suspension, outside temperature display, and tire
pressure monitoring display.
Heck it even has "The King" Richard Petty's signature on the
dash.
