Vehicle Description
This 1959 Mercedes 190SL is a very sharp example that has benefited
from an extensive cosmetic restoration and is ready for enjoyment.
Finished in its original color of red over gorgeous red leather, it
looks resplendent on whitewall tires and color-keyed wheel covers.
The paint work is very straight down the sides, with deep gloss and
good finishes all around. The panel fit is very good, with
factory-quality consistency and that solid, satisfying clunk when
you close the doors. The chrome on the bumpers and grille are
excellent, appearing to have been replaced at time of restoration.
The bucket seats are in very good condition. Correct square-weave
carpets are red and are bound in matching leather. Leather also
covers the door panels and dash, and the white dash trim certainly
complements the interior. A correct recent cloth convertible top is
included with the matching original hardtop. The underside of the
car is in perfect condition. It is powered by a SOHC 1.9-liter
4-cylinder engine with a 4-speed manual transmission. Chassis
numbers match, body numbers match, original Solex carbs. Previously
part of the Charlie Thomas Collection.
