For Sale: 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass in Alpharetta, Georgia

Vehicle Description

ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, 1971 OLDSMOBILE 442 CONVERTIBLE RECREATION, FRAME OFF RESTORATION....LOADED WITH POWER STEERING, POWER DISC BRAKES, COLD FACTORY A/C, POWER TOP, CUSTOM STEREO AND MORE...READY TO SHOW AND GO!!

This gorgeous 1971 Cutlass Supreme Convertible has been treated to a professional, frame-off restoration about 3 years ago and was done to a very high level and finished out as a 442 recreation. Sure, it would be amazing if it was a true 442 and one of the 1304 produced in 1971 but the reality is if it was it would be a very high dollar car that you would always be worried about driving. The gentleman I purchased it from in North Carolina had bought it a little over 2 years ago at a classic car auction. It is believed to have been restored about a year prior to that and as you will see in the pics still looks like it could have been restored just last week. Best of all, this was not just a quick cosmetic restoration. This Cutlass (442 Recreation) runs and drives as good as she looks and has all of the driving comforts you could ask for with power steering, power front disc brakes, factory a/c that has been upgraded to R134, modern stereo, and more.  This car truly glides along the road while it turns heads and will be an absolute joy to own. I will do my best to provide enough large images, a video of it running, and an honest description to help you decide if this Matador Red beauty should be in your garage this Holiday season.  I am also a licensed transport broker and can assist in getting you a great rate on enclosed transport anywhere in the US. I also welcome overseas buyers and can assist in getting the car to the port of your choice. Sit back and enjoy!

This car would be the perfect Holiday gift for that special loved one!!

As I think the photo tour of the body below will show you, the paint and body are absolutely gorgeous on this '71 Convertible. The paint quality can definitely be described as show quality and I do not throw that phrase around very much as I know everyone has a different opinion and expectation. While it may not be a 100 pt. Concours show winner it will definitely fill the trunk with trophies at the local shows. Body lines and panel fit are excellent and the car appears to have been a southern rust free car with a great body. The big doors open and shut beautifully. The car is extremely straight when you look down the sides. When it was restored it was given the look of a 442 with the correct front grilles, round front running lights, correct rear bumper with exhaust cut outs and horizontal lights, 442 badging, and a 442 stripe down the body line. Most people will assume it is a true 442 but regardless they will all know it is an absolutely beautiful car! The body is really near flawless. I did notice a very small hairline crack in the paint in front of the trunk corner and a tiny chip that was touched up on the drivers side rear wheel well edge. All of the chrome and trim looks fantastic with just a minor blem on the rear bumper where it might have tapped in to something. Weatherstripping all looks new and all of the glass looks great and windows roll up and down nicely. I think the photo tour below will show you what you need to see.

While I hope the next lucky owner enjoys this convertible with the top down as often as possible it is nice to know that the white power convertible top also looks close to new and operates perfectly. Not to mention that the car actually looks almost as good with the top up as it does with the top down as the white top is a great compliment to the Matador Red exterior and white body stripe. The frame of the power top appears to have been stripped and painted and the rear window is a crystal clear glass window. When the top is down a white boot goes on nicely for a clean finished look.

Complimenting the striking Matador Red Exterior is an equally impressive white interior. The interior looks practically brand new!!! Everything from the seats, door panels, carpeting, and dash looks to have been replaced. The front bench seat is super comfortable and the fold down center arm rest gives you the option of resting your arm as you drive, or fold it up and have your honey slide in close next to you just like the good old days. All of the gauges and courtesy lights are working correctly. Steering wheel looks like new. This Convertible muscle car also has ice cold Factory A/C that was converted to R134 and works very well. Previous owner liked his music so he added a modern functioning classic looking radio from Antique Auto Radio that has a digital tuner and auxiliary input for your iPod or smart phone. Speakers neatly mounted in front kick panels and 6x9 speakers hidden in the rear and Rockford Fosgate subwoofer and Amps neatly installed in the trunk. He spent close to $3000 on the audio set up. Drivers side remote mirror and seat belts for all passengers front and rear. A nice set of gauges were neatly mounted below the dash giving you temperature, oil pressure and voltage readings. Great set of 442 carpeted front floor mats finish out the interior. Just like the exterior, the interior is ready for the shows.

This 442 Recreation not only looks amazing, it runs and drives as good as it looks!! The 350 4bbl V8 was completely rebuilt according to the previous owner and runs smooth as silk with plenty of power on tap when needed. Motor is believed to be original to the car and it is estimated that there have been less than 3000 miles put on this car since the time of restoration and she truly drives like she would have off the showroom floor.  Smooth shifts from the Turbo Hydramatic automatic transmission which is also believed to have been rebuilt at the time of restoration. Handling is a joy with power steering and power front disc brakes stop this baby with ease. Rear end is a posi traction 10 bolt rear with highway friendly gearing for easy cruising. Fuel rolls though the Rochester 4 bbl. Carburetor and stock manifolds breathe out a great sounding dual exhaust exiting the correct 442 style trumpets.  The engine bay has been nicely detailed out for show purposes and you will be proud to pop the hood on this one! This Convertible truly glides along the road and handles amazingly. All of the front and rear suspension looks new and front and rear sway bars add to the handling. The frame was powder coated and floors all look fantastic with no rust issues. Inside of trunk is nicely finished housing the stereo equipment and matching spare tire with jack. Great set of painted to match wheels wrapped in close to new BFG Radial TA white letter tires. This 442 Recreation is turn key ready to drive wherever, whenever!!! Make sure you watch and listen to the video that follows to hear it start up and running.
