Vehicle Description
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this very clean, 1962
International Scout 80 4X4 for consideration. The Scout 80 is the
original Scout beginning production in 1960 and succeeded by the
Scout 800 in 1965. The original Scout 80 are identifiable by
removable sliding side windows available through early 1962, a
fold-down windshield, vacuum windshield wipers mounted to the top
on the windshield and an IH logo in the central of the grille. The
Scout 80 is powered by a extremely reliable and somewhat primitive
152 four-cylinder engine, 3 speed manual transmission and
Internationals rock solid 4 wheel drive system The only other
4-wheel drive recreational vehicle offered at that time was a Jeep.
1962 was the second model year Scouts were offered. The Scouts are
known for their ability to go anywhere and have high durability.
They are a key part of automotive history as they are considered
the first SUV.
The 1962 Scout 80 offered here came to us from Texas, where it was
restored and cared for. It is powered by its 4 cylinder engine
paired with a manual transmission. The Scout has new battery
cables, new battery, alternator, starter, coil, distributor cap,
spark plugs, spark plug wires, new 2 barrel carburetor, radiator,
fuel pump, front and rear shocks. The Scout runs and operates as it
should.
Classic 4X4's have become very popular as of late and first
generation Scouts are highly sought after around the glove. Their
classic Americana design, utility and go anywhere attitude keep
them on the "A" list of collectors and 4X4 enthusiasts alike.
