Vehicle Description
This Fairlane is one of 57 Ford factory race cars produced in 1966.
It is documented with two factory Build Sheets and original owner's
manuals and several ET (elapsed time) race slips with a best time
of 11.95 seconds. It has had three owners in 52 years and was
featured in the April 2010 issue of Mustangs and Fords magazine.
All 57 R-code 1966 Fairlanes were identically built with a 427ci
side-oiler with race car package, which included a medium-riser
with factory dual Holleys, 4-speed Toploader transmission, 9" 3.89
ratio posi-traction rear end, front disc brakes, transistor
ignition, original lift-off hood, radio delete and finished in
Wimbledon White with black interior. This 1966 Fairlane 427 R-code
received a rotisserie restoration finished in 2010, and still
retains most of its original sheet metal and original parts.
Drivetrain original parts include the transmission, rear end, dual
intake manifold, exhaust manifold, engine heads, dual carburetors
(not on car but included), radiator, carburetor sealing plate to
hood scoop (very rare part), transistor ignition and dual air
cleaner assembly. It has its original valve covers (not on car but
included). The original block was replaced by a correct 1972 427ci
side-oiler block.
