Here is Ford's new Thunderbird, outed in1955 but while two years
overdue, it is generally accepted as Ford Motor Company's answer to
the Corvette. Marketed as a luxury sports roadster the sales left
the competition in the dust, selling 16,000 baby birds in 1955
alone, compared to 4640 Corvettes sold cumulatively for the years
1953 thru 1956. The Thunderbird touted close to the same horsepower
rating (17 hp less) but never came close to attaining the same
reputation as the Corvette for speed and handling. This barnfind
Tbird was purchased with the intention of it being completely
restored in our facility. Obviously this has not happened to date.
Larger projects and customer vehicles have kept this nice little
car pushed into the corner. The work that has been started was done
prior to our purchasing the car by the grandson of the previous
owner. The grandson was a professional, working in a body shop by
day and doing the restoration by night. Like many projects, as we
all have seen, the lights dim, the enthusiasm fades and eventually
the car is delegated to a stall in the barn. No guarantee but as
near as I can tell the car comes with enough parts to complete the
restoration. The soft top, both bumpers and the hood can be seen in
the one parts pile picture and there are moldings and plenty of
containers of clips and bolts. I am sure that there will be some
parts hunting needed but that's part of the fun, right? This
particular car is not for the totally inexperienced but someone
with a general knowledge of restoration will get a long way on this
one. This vehicle was manufactured when they still built cars out
of metal, and lots of it. Don't miss this one!! It has the
potential to bring home some trophies and give you a good measure
of pride in your accomplishment. If you are going to show, cruise
or just add another to your collection, this car leaves nothing to
be desired. The excellent condition shown by its obvious survivor
status and its lower than the actual restoration price for a
vehicle of this caliber, makes it a perfect choice for getting into
the classic car market either as an investment opportunity or make
it your weekend or daily driver. If you've wanted a beautiful and
sporty super stylish car and are willing to build in some sweat
equity, you can get this one at an affordable price. This is the
one! Don't wait. Mileage stated in listing is the odometer reading
