Vehicle Description
1970 Bright Gold Ford Mustang Mach 1Bright Gold w/Black interior
351/300hp 4-speed manual transmission.Most muscle car aficionados
would agree that the peak of performance came between the years
1969 and 1970. It was almost comical how powerful the cars coming
from the Big Three were in those days! But as powerful as these
beasts were both on the street and strip they were little match for
the federal government and insurance companies of the era! By 1968
the writing was clearly on the wall that the end of the
ultra-performance American muscle car was fast approaching!
Knowing this the men (and women) at Chevrolet Ford and Chrysler
wanted one more year to try and out-do each other. And with the
425 hp Hemi Cuda's 450hp LS6 Chevelle's 500+hp L88 Corvettes that
came off the line they no doubt achieved that goal! The hp figures
were mind boggling to be sure! It definitely was the Golden Age of
the muscle car. And the hp they put out was not to be seen again
for over two decades! So how did you want your performance back in
the day? Very fast Ridiculously fast or Stupid fast?! You had
many choices back then and you really couldn't go wrong with any of
them. Take for instance our featured car . . .When Wm. A.
Abercrombie of Cave Junction OR. decided he wanted a brand-new Mach
1 he drove down to Crater Lake Motors in Medford and picked out a
Very fast '70 Mach 1 in Bright Gold. On his order form he chose
the 351/300hp small block 4-spd. manual transmission Traction Lok
rear diff w/performance ratio Shaker Hood power front disc brakes
power steering tach and a few other items to make this beast a
blast to drive like tilt steering column! From what we could
gather Mr. Abercrombie was quite fond of his new purchase and took
excellent care of it until it was sold to its next caretaker. And
the Mach 1's next owner continued the TLC! This 69k mile Pony is
VERY original though it would be hard to believe that by looking at
it in person! The Bright Gold exterior is mostly original and the
lacquer paint still shines with just the slightest amount of
patina. The interior is all original and amazing with the
exception of the radio. According to the second owner's
verification the engine was completely rebuilt at 60k miles with
everything upgraded and brand new at the time including a slight
.20 overbore on the block new pistons low-lift cam reground crank
new valves new valve springs timing chain resurfaced flywheel new
clutch. high volume water pump Mallory electronic ignition new
starter new alternator new fuel pump Modine high-flow radiator
belts new exhaust and much more! We'd wager the hp is a bit up
from the original 300! The suspension has been completely rebuilt
and upgraded the brakes have been rebuilt and feature new pads
shoes and rear wheel cylinders all done in 2016. We've got a
folder showing lists of what was done most of the receipts for the
work as well as a Marti Report original Dealer Invoice Window
Sticker and owner's manual! It even comes with the original keys
with the selling dealer's key fob still attached! This is not an
ordinary '70 Mach 1 (if there is such a thing). You've got the
best of both worlds! Original on the outside and new and rebuilt
on the inside! This is one very special Mustang and one that we
feel confident couldn't be duplicated. Are you ready to be its
