Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce to you a car who has simply been known as "Baby". Since 1990, she has been a part of my extended family but now it is time to pass her on to someone who will take her fantastic good looks to the next level and appreciate her every day.
As you can see, she is an all-original, In-Violet 4-speed car with numbers-matching engine and transmission with a highway-happy 8 3/4 banjo-style Sure Grip rear end with 3:23 gears.
The front seats are not original but the backs are and still in really good shape. She sits up well with newer rear leaf springs. New door skins, headliner, clutch and repainted in 2009.
The engine was completely rebuilt in 1996 with a lumpier cam from 1968. I lived overseas for almost 7 years (1999 to 2006) so she has hardly been driven. 500 miles a year, maybe, and always under cover and indoors.
I have the original broadcast sheet but the fender tag was lost in a full body repaint in 1993.
There's a Thermoquad on her now but I do still have the original AVS. The original ceramic manifolds broke in a trailer operation one day but the headers on her now sound WAY better anyway.
I don't need to sell this car but it's just a shame for her to sit so often. I would be happier for her "car spirit" to be with someone who will, again, tinker with her and cruise almost daily. She gets A LOT of looks wherever she goes, I tell you.
