Vehicle Description
It seems that almost everywhere you see a Ford Racing logo you also
see some variation of the name Jack Roush. A true man's man who
likes fast cars, fast planes, and sometimes mixing the two, "The
Cat in the Hat" has turned tweaking Ford's best high performance
hardware into a form of modern art. And that's the main reason his
namesake company, Roush Performance of Livonia, Michigan, virtually
OWNS the Ford tuner market. If you want a specialty piece that
actually has the performance to match its aesthetics, all you have
to do is look for a square fender badge that's comprised of a red
and black "R". And this 2007 Stage 3 is a low-mileage warhorse
that's functionally cooler thanks to a Roush Aerobody Kit,
significantly quicker thanks to a 415 horsepower ROUSHcharged V8,
and more athletic thanks to a Roush-tuned suspension. In fact, not
only is this top-notch Mustang fun, dependable and quick, it'll
also hold its own next to the coolest metal your local cruise-in
has to offer. If you're looking for the perfect combination of
classic show, OEM quality and major go, this exclusive Ford is the
deal of the year!
APPEARANCE/CONDITION
The fifth-generation Mustang is heralded as some of the
best-looking metal produced in decades. With bulging fenders and
crisp lines, the car's design not only plays well into the current
trend of nostalgic goodwill, but also appeals to just about anyone
with a pulse. And this low-mileage Roush Stage 3 takes those
crowd-pleasing traits and wraps them in two things Mustangs
arguably wear best - dark paint and aggressive stripes. In looking
over this Ford's pristine body, it becomes obvious that the car's
previous owners barely enjoyed any seat time at all. Its Vista Blue
paint is glossy and devoid of any problem areas. That clean
basecoat is accented by wrinkle-free graphics, which hearken back
to ponies of yore. And, as a practically new offering, panel
fitment and overall finish are still assembly line-perfect!
Combining sculpted, muscular sheetmetal and well-planned appearance
upgrades with a buttoned down stance and clean, modern detailing,
this awesome Roush creation takes Ford designer J. Mays' theme of
'retro-futurism' and literally brings it to life. At the front of
the car, a Ford grille hangs a polished pony emblem between bright
headlights, bright driving lamps and an aggressive Roush fascia
that stretches a sculpted splitter between inset fog lamps. Behind
that grille, a factory-spec GT hood anchors a familiar Roush scoop
between stern "ROUSHCHARGED" scripts, power-operated mirrors and a
white "ROUSH" windshield banner. At the sides of that hood,
traditional Roush Performance emblems perfectly contrast
color-keyed Roush rockers. And at the back of the car, tight canvas
hugs an optional Roush convertible light bar while a second Roush
fascia centers chrome exhaust tips beneath factory tail lamps, a
Roush-branded faux fuel filler and a prominent Roush wing.
ENGINE
Created as a turnkey package for enthusiasts who want a reliably
engineered Mustang that unlocks the full potential of Ford's
legendary mod motor, the Roush Stage 3 utilizes a roots-style
supercharger to crank out 415 horsepower and 385 lb./ft. of
gravel-throwing torque. Roush's patented ROUSHcharger is an
Eaton-produced blower that exhales through a relocated and
redesigned single core cross-flow intercooler, which helps manage
on-track temperatures and create gobs of torque-rich power. In
front of that blower, a familiar Roush induction system provides
both a cleaner appearance and better efficiency. Below that blower,
a lightweight aluminum intake complements a beefy Roush radiator.
And, even though Ford's go-to V8 is a very strong engine as is, the
experts in Livonia went ahead and recalibrated the ECM just in case
this Mustang's owner wanted to spend a bit of time at the track.
Aesthetically, the crisp engine bay displays hardly any signs of
usage. And naturally, small plaques confirm the car's coveted
exclusivity.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
Straight from Dearborn the D2C Mustang platform is a very capable
foundation; and with a few upgrades from Roush Performance, it
becomes a true force to be reckoned with! Behind the engine, a
proven Tremec 5-speed drives a rugged Ford 8.8-inch axle that's
wraps a limited-slip differential around 3.55 gears. That stout
drivetrain powers a tuned front strut and 3-link rear suspension
that's fitted with large sway bars, uniquely valved shocks, better
struts and increased-rate springs. Braking is handled by a cool
conglomeration of 14-inch Roush binders, factory rear discs,
standard anti-lock software and standard traction control. The
car's killer engine note is provided by a Roush-tweaked exhaust
system. And at the corners of the floor, forged Roush wheels spin
super sticky 275/40ZR18 BF Goodrich G-Force T/As around optional
locking lug nuts.
INTERIOR
Unlike most tuners, Roush Performance adds attractive interior
upgrades to all their vehicles. Steal one glance inside this
low-mileage pony car and you'll find a top-of-the-line cockpit that
still retains its hallowed new car appearance. The seats are supple
leather buckets which wrap Roush Stage 3 Mustang Dark Charcoal and
Blue surfacing around 6-way power adjustment for the car's driver.
In front of those thrones, a Ford dash founds Roush Stage 3
white-face telemetry behind stylish Roush trim. Beneath that dash,
billet Roush foot pedals front clean carpet, which floats
Roush-themed floor mats between Roush-themed sills and a Ford
console that's topped by a billet Roush shifter. In front of the
driver, a silver-spoked steering wheel laps a tilting column. The
tunes keep bumping thanks to a powerful Shaker 500 audio system.
And naturally, all the amenities and convenience features you've
come to expect in a modern classic are present and accounted for,
including climate control, Cruise Control and full power
accessories.
