restoration, this 1969 GT500 Cobra Jet is in remarkable condition
throughout. Originally a home-office reserve special-order car
#2694. It was ordered with a 3.50:1 Traction-Lok differential, a
close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission, power steering and front
power disc brakes. It is, of course, powered by the famed and
fabled 428/335 HP V-8 engine, and is documented with its Shelby
invoice build sheet and a deluxe Marti Report. The black interior
is beautifully presented with the wood-grain elements, , a center
console and an eight track, AM radio, and the glove box door is
autographed by Carroll Shelby. Every year, Shelby Mustangs seemed
to improve and mature, get quicker and faster and discover a whole
new way for style; The 428 CJ Shelby Mustang proved to be one of
the quickest ever produced. Of the 1452 Shelby GT 500 produced,
only 445 had the close ratio 4-Speed transmission and 69 were candy
apple red and only 1 came with this factory 8 track tape player.
This 1969 Shelby is a great opportunity to acquire a very rare
example of one of the greatest performance Mustangs ever built, in
exceptionally clean condition. Per the title it appears that this
car has 26418 original miles. The GTs lost their Cobra tag for 1969
and once again were marketed simply as Shelby GT 350 and Shelby GT
500.The GT 350 and GT 500 for the 1969 model year received an
extensive face lift, the body alone increasing in length by 4
inches (100mm) with some reaching 10 inches (250mm). Ford was
involved with design and style decisions, with Shelby having little
input. The GT 350 was now equipped with a 351 cubic-inch V8.
