This is a replicar ( "NOT A KIT" ) made by Aurora Cars of Aurora, Ontario, Canada which manufactured replicas of the 1964 AC Cobra, "Slab Side" to exacting details from 1980-1983. They delivered approximately 170 exquisitely built cars, that took 450 man hours to build each car. Based on a dual plane tubular space frame, four wheel independent suspension and disc brakes (the inboard rear disc are inboard, just on the differential which benefits the braking with less unsprung weight), Salisbury (Jaguar) differential, luxurious Connolly leather interior, Smiths guages: the Aurora had no equal.
It was the only replica subjected to the rigors of US DOT specifications and trials and EPA compliance. In 1980 this meant crash testing, elaborate emissions supression, 5-mph bumpers, side marker lights, steel reinforced doors and much more. These Aurora Cobras, were delivered street legal in 50 states, an achievement unique to Aurora Cars Limited among replica manufacturers and they became the 4th manufacturer of the big three. Shelby never sued Aurora as they were sold and warranteed by Ford, which had supported Aurora with the documentation and engineering information to meet all the EPA requirements. Ford supplied the power train with a 302 CI and a four speed top loader manual transmission and knock off wheels.
The car has been gone through with an on frame rebuild. New springs and QA-1 shocks, complete rebuild on the engine, new paint and compelte new interior. Runs strong and rides like a true 1965 AC, Slab Side. I have additional parts such as the roll bar, gages etc. Car is located in Canada, have clear title and was titled in the USA previously, so should be no problem to export. (Have all the paper work and history with all the bills for the work undertaken).
