Vehicle Highlights:
The 1968 Lamborghini Islero was the replacement for the 400 GT and featured Lamborghini’s V12 Engine. The Islero was named after a Miura bull that struck the matador Manuel Rodriguez, that’s one interesting way to get a name for sure. The Islero’s improved power allowed for 320 brake horsepower powered by a 4.0L V12 engine that propelled the car to a top speed of 155MPH. With only 225 Islero’s being produced it accounts for the exceptional uniqueness and rareness of the vehicle. The Islero is a must have vehicle to add to your collection.
As you flick your garage light on you immediately notice the beautiful Sophistograu B90 paint that sparkles as the light hits it. As your hand reaches for the door handle you are struck by the exquisite bright work. With confidence and a smile from ear to ear you open the door and then it hits you. An aroma so fierce it makes you want to jump into the car and roll up all the windows to not let the smell slip away. The interior is such an experience. It was re-done with true boar leather and as you examine the seats you will notice every tiny pour. As you run your fingers across the passenger seat you are struck by the soft and supple leather. As your gaze shifts to the steering wheel you immediately take your thumb and slowly wipe the Lamborghini badge. The steering wheel beckons your fingers to be wrapped around it. As you squeeze tightly with both hands your eye catches the beautiful white lines in each gauge. You take the keys out of your pocket ever so gracefully and put it into the ignition. Slowly turning it and hearing every individual click. As the Islero roars to life and your put your left foot onto the clutch pedal and shift into first gear you stare into the rearview mirror and notice your garage quickly disappearing.
This particular Lamborghini Islero had an extensive and interesting history. Originally shipped to John Montague in Canada, purchased through Lotus Dealership in Vancouver. John owned it up to 1973 when it was then sold to Martin Thomas from England as payment for a business debt. Thomas sold the car in Monaca with 16,000 miles on the odometer and a full providence history included to Alan Watkins and he brought it to the United States. Watkins showed the car in the 2003 and 2007 in Concorso at Pebble Beach. Featured in Popular Mechanics magazine they stated it was one of the best and well-maintained Islero’s ever kept. It stacks up favorably compared to the competition in 1968. The Islero produced more horsepower, top speed, lb-feet of torque and weighs less than a Ferrari 365 GTC. Similarly, it beats the 1968 Maserati Ghibli in top speed and weight. It rivals the Ferrari Daytona in horse power, top speed, engine displacement, torque, weight and a 0-60 time.
This Islero is a truly unique car with a highly coveted history. You will not want to miss this opportunity!
