Vehicle Description
History
The Dodge Polara is an automobile introduced in the United States
for the 1960 model year as Dodge's top-of-the-line full-size
car.
The name Polara is a reference to the Polaris star, in a marketing
attempt to appeal to the excitement surrounding the Space Race
during the early 1960s. The Polara was a competitor to the Ford
Galaxie 500 and the Chevrolet Impala.
When it was introduced in 1960, the Dodge Polara sat at the top of
the trim levels for the brand's full-sized cars. Two years later,
the Polara would drop down to the base model and to an intermediate
car. Through the end of production in 1968 they sold well. These
classic cars include styling that resonates with their era and that
make them popular collectibles today.
