Rally Preparation Services is pleased to offer for sale this robust vintage Endurance Rally car.
The current owner found this car in California where it had languished in a garage untouched for 20 years. The car was imported into the UK in 2012 and converted to its current rally spec (see below) over the next 4 years. However, it has done very little work since as the current owners now uses a classic rally car.
Buick is one of the oldest vehicle marques with the first cars being built at the turn of the (last) century. Buick’s early success was due in part to technical innovation including an overhead valve configuration and the marketing flair of Billy Durrant. Buick’s financial success soon paved the way to the formation of GM with a structured model and brand ladder. For 1929 the 116 series (116 is the wheelbase in inches) continued with the engines stroked and bored up from 3200cc to 3900cc, bigger valves and a revised oil pump giving a useful 10bhp increase.
A great pre-war car with much character but above all some of the main ingredients necessary for rallies – simplicity, ground clearance and strength! These cars have a huge following globally with a very active club – www.29buick.ca
