For Sale: 1967 Pontiac GTO in Saint Petersburg, Florida

Vehicle Description

This is a 1967 PHS documented GTO that has been through a complete frame off restoration.  It is a factory air conditioned, automatic transmission car with the full original drive train.  Every component of this car was restored with a focus on keeping as many original parts as possible.  I'm not going to bore you with all the usual sales hype associated with vintage GTOs.  If you're looking for a GTO, you already know what these cars are all about.  I'm not a dealer.  This is my personal car and has been titled in my name since 2009.  I bought this car as a retirement project.  With the help of my wife and a good friend, we did every part of the restoration ourselves.  I have hundreds of photos documenting the restoration process.  This car was not built to "flip".  It was built as a personal car with the intention of keeping it for a very long time.  Build quality was the top priority. There are no secrets with this GTO.  I have photos of the night I went to see it, trailering it home and the entire restoration process. I can answer any question regarding the restoration because we did the work. We kept track of our work and the restoration took 1600 hours.

ABOUT THE CAR:

The car had most of the orignal parts on it when I bought it so the restoration plan was to keep the car stock and original.  We didn't go as far as date coded radiator hoses and chalk marks on the firewall, but it isn't far off from that.

The body is painted with a PPG base/clear system in the original Signet Gold color.  All of the exterior sheet metal other than the tail light panel is original. Sections of the floor pan were replaced but most of the steel is original.  The entire trunk pan was replaced along with the supports. The windshield was replaced but all other glass is original. It has crank windows and they work perfectly since we even restored the regulators..

The engine is the original (numbers matching) and has been completely rebuilt to factory specs.  It still has the Pontiac correct quadrajet carburetor.  It is the base engine offered in that year producing 330 hp.  It has the original Turbo 400 transmission that was also rebuilt to factory specs.  It features the Hurst  " his and hers" shifter.  The original differential is an open type with 3.26 gears.

The car has power steering and all of the suspension was 100% rebuilt.  The power brakes are the original four-wheel drum style restored to new condition right down to the correct retaining spring colors.  All brake and fuel lines are new.

The exhaust system is the factory correct style with different sized mufflers.  Being a factory AC car, it also has the small resonators near the exhaust outlets.

We did deviate a bit from the original build sheet on the interior.  The original enterior was all gold.  A black interior suited our tastes more so we changed  colors.  All of the upholstery is the original design but brand new.  We couldn't find all the parts to restore the original steering wheel so we substituted a walnut model.  We have all of the original steering wheel parts.  The car originally just had dash warning lights.  I don't like driving cars without gauges so we upgraded to the GTO rally cluster.  I have the original instrument cluster.

The car is fully sorted out and a pleasure to drive. As I mentioned before, I bought this car as a retirement project.  I enjoyed it so much that I'm no longer retired and restore vintage cars as a profession.  The down side is that I don't have much time to enjoy my "toys".  This beautiful car spends way too much time just sitting with a cover on it.  It needs to be on the road and taking trophies at the car shows.  If there are any questions about our ability to perform a top quality restoration, you can check out some of the build stories at our Bill's Auto Restoration web site.  We're in Saint Petersburg Florida.

Feel free to e-mail me with any questions you might have.  The car shop can be hectic and I can't always get to the phone.  Please come and see the car before we get into negotiations. You won't be wasting your time.
