Vehicle Description
Stk 2354 1971 Volkswagen Super Beetle
This fully restored 1971 Volkswagen Super Beetle is a fine example
of a popular Bug model. The restoration began in 2010 with a very
solid Florida vehicle and resulted in a virtually stock VW except
for engine enhancements and suspension upgrades. Our owner has
supplied a comprehensive folder of restoration
documentation/receipts. Many of the new components came from
Mid-America/Volkswagen. The exterior was professionally refinished
in Shantung Yellow (original color) in 2013. Body panels fit
beautifully and all body weather-stripping is new. There is an
impressive set of aluminum running boards in place of the originals
and five-spoke alloys provide a beautiful contrast. The interior
has been redone in black vinyl (2013) and the dash is classic
Volkswagen - a radio-delete model with no power windows, no power
seats, no power locks and no air conditioning - but still very
cool. Just roll down the windows and have some fun. This Beetle is
powered by a 1600cc flat-four 'boxer' that is housed in a nicely
detailed/chromed engine compartment. It was rebuilt in 2014 with
minor performance modifications. Carburation looks to be an Empi 2V
intake set-up with progressive linkage. There is a mild street-cam
lope and the stock exhaust has been replaced with a free-flowing
system that sounds great. The clutch/flywheel were also replaced
during the build and the 4-speed manual transmission shifts
smoothly. This Bug pulls hard. Totally rebuilt 4-wheel drum brakes
provide stopping power. The entire front Macpherson Strut
suspension has been rebuilt and a top strut-tower stabilizer rod
has been added to improve handling. Look at the photos. This is a
professionally restored Bug that someone is going to have a lot of
fun with. Drive it, or show it - an outstanding classic. ALL
