Now for sale in our beautiful Houston showroom is one of the
baddest Mercurys you'll find anywhere, this 1970 Mercury Cyclone
GT. This beast is the product of a five year long complete
rotisserie restoration done by The Winning Collection, designed to
take this final gen Cyclone to the pinnacle of what it could be.
Bathed in an attention-grabbing House of Kolor Chrome Yellow
finish, with semi-gloss black striping that matches the chin and
tail spoilers, this car is striking. Custom 17-inch Magnum
500-style American Racing Shelby billet aluminum wheels with Nitto
555 performance rubber (245/45-ZR17 front, 315/35-ZR17 rear)
further enhance the look, and the grippy 555's keep this ride stuck
to the pavement. Once you get past the initial visual impact of the
car, you'll start to see more of the attention to detail that was
shown in the build. For starters, get up close to the hood, and
you'll see a Lexan window almost hidden in the black stripe, which
shows a hint of the nastiness lurking under the hood: a
Roush-built, 551 horsepower fuel-injected 427 with an eight-stack
fuel injection setup, reminiscent of a vintage Hillborn system.
Behind that mill is a performance-built C6 transmission with a Gear
Vendors overdrive unit, controlled by the Line Loc-equiped B&M
Ratchet Shifter. The C6 twists a set of 3:55 gears in the
Currie-beefed Ford 9-inch rear end. Spent gasses are exhausted
through custom ceramic-coated headers into a 3-inch ceramic-coated
stainless exhaust system (also custom), complete with custom-fabbed
X-pipe and custom-fabbed mufflers neatly tucked under the body, and
heat-shielded from the passenger compartment. A big Griffin
radiator with dual electric fans keeps the powerplant cool, and
makes this car literally daily-driver capable. A complete Art
Morrison chassis supports fully adjustable coilover shocks at each
corner, with a complete four link rear system keeps the rubber in
full contact with the road. A Mustang II power rack and pinion
steering system keeps things pointed in the right direction, and a
full Wilwood brake system (with 6 piston calipers up front) bring
this ship down to the speed limit in a hurry when necessary.
Inside, occupants will find the rich scent of leather wafting
through their noses, with nearly every white surface covered in the
supple, sacrificed cowhide. Real carbon fiber inserts and panels
abound, in the dash and on the console. No appliques here. Custom
green LED backlighting highlights the full set of AutoMeter gauges,
and the Alpine stereo is there to provide 500 watts' worth of
distraction, should someone choose to not listen to the sonorous
V8's wail. A custom-plumbed Vintage Air AC system blows ice cold,
for those summer days that are too hot to tool around with all four
power windows down. Options on this 1970 Mercury Cyclone GT for
sale include Air Conditioning, AM/FM/CD Radio w/500-watt amp,
Heated Seats with Lumbar Support, Power Brakes, Power Steering,
Power Windows, Tilt Wheel, Leather Interior, Performance raised
white letter Radial Tires, Aluminum Wheels, and Posi-Trac. For more
