For 1941 Chevrolet would introduce the new Deluxe line featuring
the Master and the more lavish Special Deluxe with better appointed
interiors. Styling was improved dramatically with a new grill,
integrated headlights and hidden running boards for safety. The
wheelbase was stretched to 116 inches which made the new Chevrolet
noticeably larger than the preceding models. The 216 Straight-6
engine was again utilized, but an increase in compression ratio and
a redesigned cylinder head raised horsepower to 90. These
improvements resonated with the American public who helped to make
1941 a terrific year for Chevrolet with over a million automobiles
sold. The 2-door 5-passenger Cabriolet, with its vacuum assisted
convertible top, is often cited as the most luxurious and is easily
the most stylish of all the 1941 models. Only 15,296 2-door
cabriolets were produced for 1941, making them one of the rarest
and most sought after models today by both collectors and
enthusiasts.
