1970 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona in Huntington Station, New York

Vehicle Description

1970 FERRARI 365 GTB/4 DAYTONA COUPE
--Rosso Chiaro with Black Daytona seats with Black inserts and Black carpets, Rare early limited production Plexi-Nose, 4,000 miles since restoration, Factory air conditioning and power windows, Documented by Massini.

The 365 GTB/4 Daytona was released as the fastest and, for legions of Ferrari enthusiasts, the most desirable car in the world. Its lineage can be seen in the classic Ferrari formula of a front-engined V-12 and continues to show its appeal in Ferrari’s current road models. Four decades after its debut, the 365 GTB/4 Daytona still maintains its glorious status among the sports car elite and is a cultural icon in its own right.

The European specification Daytona offered here is one of the very early examples with distinctive Plexi-Nose headlamp configuration rather than the later retractable headlamps. These rare Plexi-nose examples accounted for less than a third of total Daytona production and have thus become the most sought after of the Daytona range. Due to many early Plexi-nose examples having been converted to Spider conversion configuration in the late 1970’s and 80’s, it is thus even more rare to find a proper, excellent example in today’s market.

This Daytona is original matching numbers and currently in its original color combination as completed on February 5, 1970 as documented by Massini. Shortly thereafter it was exported to the United States where is was owned by well-known Long Island, New York Ferrari enthusiast, Mr. A. Brand. Mr. Brand kept the Daytona for many years before selling it in 1982. In 1994, this Daytona was for sale with Motorcars International, Springfield, Missouri, it was offered for sale with 38,409 miles and stated as having been in the same ownership since 1982. Subsequently purchased by Symbolic Motor Car Company, La Jolla, California it was sold to a client/collector, Mr. Ishibashi in Japan in its original condition. From 1994 until 2016, this Daytona was housed in this Japanese collection and restored completely within the last ten years’ time to its current exceptional condition throughout.

Currently this Daytona shows 4,000 miles since its restoration, it is in correct overall, a solid driving and performing GTB/4 and can be enjoyed on both the concours lawn or to simply drive and enjoy; as the Ferrari has always been intended. With very few owners from new, this Daytona has always been cared for. It was a low mileage, excellent example with only 38k miles prior to restoration and since has been restored and offers no disappointments in any way for its new owner.
